Walking in the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains; looking for Bushmen rock art; finding the endemic plants among the flowering fynbos; visiting historic sites from gold-rushes and the Boer War and experiencing the rich cultural mix of Swaziland and South Africa. These are all part of our 2011 tour. We take game drives and walks with rangers in a private game reserve, in Kruger National Park and Mkuze Game Reserve looking for the 'Big Five' game animals (lion, rhino, elephant, leopard and buffalo). In Swaziland the Malolotja Nature Reserve has prolific birdlife.

We spend time in Cape Town, walking on Table Mountain and in the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. We visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, the infamous Robben Island and take a guided tour of a typical South African 'townships'. The Cape Winelands are some of the most beautiful in the world. Rugged mountain-tops overlook beautifully preserved historic estates, boasting distinctive Cape Dutch-style architecture.
